Hannah Rana
Institution - University of Oxford
Hannah is a space science and instrumentation professional, currently completing her PhD at Oxford in Engineering Science. Her research looks at designing pulse tube cryocoolers for spacescience missions. She previously worked at the European Space Agency as a thermal engineer for the Russian-European lunar lander mission Luna-27, due for launch in 2025. Prior to this, Hannah worked at CERN in the surface physics group.
Julius Bock
Institution - University of Cambridge
Julius is a dedicated industrial engineer with a passion for digital technologies, entrepreneurship and interdisciplinary problem-solving. Currently he conducts his engineering PhD at the University of Cambridge. As head of the TUM Speakers Series and President of the German Society Cambridge, he’s organised many inspiring Ted-Talks (Bill Gates, Kofi Annan and Eric Schmidt). He was awarded multiple scholarships, including a full scholarship for his Cambridge PhD by Kings College and the Economic and Social Research Council.
Tara Love
Institution - University of Cambridge
Tara is a PhD researcher in Chemical Engineering at the BP Institute, Cambridge University. She was awarded an iCASE Studentship with EPSRC and BP (industrial partner). She graduated from Durham University with a Geoscience BSc (Hons) and MRes Geology, for which she was the recipient of competitive funding from the Oil & Gas industry and awarded a studentship.
Delphine Depierreux
Institution - University of Cambridge
After completing a BSc in Human Biology, Delphine went on to do a MSc in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, which included several months at Harvard Medical School working on the discovery and characterization of viruses. She recently graduated from the University of Cambridge with a PhD in viral immunology. She is an enthusiastic public speaker, an active member of global health societies and a vaccine advocate.
Mohammad Sayeem
Institution - University of Cambridge
Sayeem is a Research Ethics & Governance Officer at the Cambridge University Hospitals and completing his MPhil in Epidemiology at Cambridge. He attained multiple highly graded Masters in Personalized Medicine and Public Health. Alongside working at institutes like Cambridge and Harvard, he has published widely in reputable international journals and led impactful research projects with his group.
Rhian Wade
Institution - University of Bristol
Rhian is in the last year of his Masters degree at the University of Bristol specialising in Physics with Astrophysics. His final year project investigated the potential to Terraform Mars using variations in orbital parameters. He also has a keen interest in batteries and hydrogen fuel cells, and he has presented at a conference in Warwick, as well as joined an outreach group at UCL in this field.
Mohammed Shabuo
Institution - Liverpool John Moores University
Mohammed holds a BSc in Architectural Technology and MSc in Architectural Engineering. He has worked for many renowned consultancies, leading the technological design of many challenging projects. He is also a full member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists, Chartered Association of Building Engineers and International Institute of Risk and Safety Management.
Gerard Kuenning
Institution - University of Cambridge
Gerard Kuenning is an American student at the University of Cambridge, reading for a PhD in Politics and International Studies. Prior to this, Gerard completed his BA at Yale University in Economics. Gerard’s research interests exist around healthcare provision and social barriers to medical treatment in the United States.
Jia Bianca Liu
Institution - King’s College London
Jia Bianca Liu is a PhD student at King’s College London and lecturer at Dalian Maritime University. She has a MSc in Media and Communications from London School of Economics and Political Science. Jia is a qualitative researcher and ethnographer, and is fascinated by cultural diversity.
Hui Yang
Institution - Imperial College London
Hui Yang is a PhD researcher in Physics at University College London and currently works on organic semiconductors. Before that, she obtained an Erasmus Munders Master in Chemistry, which is a two-year joint master programme among the Universities Autónoma de Madrid, Valencia, Toulouse, Perugia, Porto, Groningen and Leuven.
Elena Lucchetti
Institution - University of Glasgow
Elena grew up in a bilingual home in English and Italian in Ancona, a city in Central Italy. She completed two years of her course in Software Engineering at the University of Glasgow, before switching to Computer Science at the same university.
Flora Kozma
Institution - University of Cambridge
Flora graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA and MSci in Natural Sciences specialising in Biochemistry. Although she enjoyed her Masters project (which involved the characterisation of a group of proteins in Toxoplasma gondii). She has a passion for teaching and inspiring students.
Audrey Crousilles
Institution - University of Cambridge
Audrey completed her PhD at the University of Cambridge. She did her undergrad in Montpellier (south of France) where she qualified as a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and did a concomitant MSc in nutrition and food safety. Her research focuses on Pseudomonas aeruginosa (a deleterious human pathogen)
Dr Debbie Falconer
Institution - University of Cambridge
Debbie is a junior doctor working in London. She studied pre-clinical medicine at the University of Cambridge before completing her studies at UCL in 2014. Her long-term goal is to work in an internal medical specialty.
Dr Bethany Wong
Institution - Imperial College London
Beth is a medical doctor and cardiology specialist registrar. She graduated from Imperial College London obtaining her MBBS in Medicine and Surgery together with 1st Class Honours in Cardiovascular Sciences BSc. She is interested in practical procedures including diagnostic coronary angiography and implanting pacemaker devices.
Dr Steven Watts
Institution - King's College London
Steven completed his PhD in Informatics at King's College London. In the past he completed his undergraduate in Mathematics at Imperial College London and his Master's in Computer Science at the University of Hertfordshire. His area of research involves the theory of algorithms, particular algorithms on data strings.
Fahad Rage
Institution - University College London
Fahad holds a first class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queen Mary University. He has worked for a rail sector engineering company called Furrer+Frey, where he won a national engineering competition for a mobile app solution for the Great Western Electrification Project. He completed his Master’s degree at University College London in Engineering with Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Timothy Little
Institution - Imperial College London
Timothy attended the University of Cambridge for his undergraduate degree and Masters degree in Pathology and Systems Biology. He is currently pursuing a PhD at Imperial College London based at The Francis Crick Institute analysing interactions between malaria and its hosts.
Dr Kristin Schmidt
Institution - University of Oxford
Dr Kristin Schmidt is an experienced research professional having worked in mental health funding and strategy, as well as in clinical and healthcare settings. Kristin holds a DPhil f(PhD) rom the University of Oxford, a MSc (Distinction) from University College London, and a BSc (First Class Honours) from the University of Leeds.
Korianne Muya
Institution - Swansea University
Korianne completed her undergraduate degree in Medical Science and Humanities and her master’s in Nanomedicine at Swansea University. She’s always had a love for the sciences and for the sense of understanding it brings to the world.
Marta Ferreira
Institution - Queen Mary University of London
Marta holds a BEng and a MEng in Bioengineering from Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon. She was awarded a scientific studentship to process and edit technical content of Aerodynamics, Computational Fluid Dynamics and Biofluid Mechanics for the Laboratory of Fluid Simulation in Energy and Fluids at IST. She is currently a Medical Engineering PhD student at Queen Mary University of London.
Dr Daniel Woods
Institution - University of Oxford
Daniel is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Innsbruck in Austria. He received his doctorate titled "The Economics of Cyber Risk Transfer" from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford. During his PhD, he visited the Security Economics Lab at the University of Tulsa as a Fulbright Scholar, and completed an internship with Willis Towers Watson.
Kristiyan Ohotski
Institution - University College London
Kristiyan holds a BEng in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the University of Nottingham and a MSc in Information Security (certified by NCSC) from University College London. He has been exhilarated by the way people convert inspiring ideas into codes computers can process.
Hamza Mahmud
Institution - University of Manchester
Hamza holds a 1st Class MEng in Computer Science from the University of Manchester. He has 5 years experience in the trenches at industry-leading artificial intelligence and machine learning start-up DigitalBridge, where he currently serves as Head of Professional Services.
Syed Hussain
Institution - Imperial College London
Syed is currently at Imperial College London completing his PhD in Physics. He hopes to teach, inspire and motivate a new generation to marvel at the wonders of physics and its theoretical background. He enjoys reading, particularly the Islamic sciences and philosophy, and going to the gym.
Dr Hatem Sadik
Institution - University of Cambridge
Dr Hatem Sadik graduated with a degree in medicine from the University of Cambridge. His research experience includes the neuropsychology of language comprehension and imaging techniques in vascular surgery. He has organised multiple teaching programmes for year four and five medical students, and has five years of experience in Oxbridge medical admissions tuition.
Ahsan Memon
Institution - University of Cambridge
Ahsan is a PhD student at University of Cambridge, Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience. Previously, he was based in the Department of Engineering, where he obtained a master’s degree in Integrated Photonic and Electronic Systems. He completed his undergraduate degree at Osaka University, Japan. He received an editor’s choice award from American Chemical Society.
Dr Sharif Siam
Institution - University of Cambridge
Dr Sharif Siam is a Senior Lecturer in the Dept. of Pharmacy, BRAC University, Dhaka. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge. And a MSc in Pharmacogenetics and Stratified Medicine from University College London. He is an active member of International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB), Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and Ambassador at European Association for Cancer Research (EACR).
Dr Gauri Ang
Institution - University of Oxford
Dr Gauri Ang graduated from the University of Oxford where she completed her doctoral studies in Neuroscience as a Wellcome Trust scholar. She also holds a first-class BSc in Biomedical Sciences from University College London, where she graduated top of her class. She is currently studying Medicine at the University of Birmingham.
Hafsa Meho
Institution - University of Liverpool
Hafsa obtained her Part I RIBA Architecture qualification from Kingston University, following which she volunteered in earthquake relief and construction work in Nepal. She did her Part II RIBA Masters in Architecture at the University of Liverpool, and has been involved in designing urban planning and community projects. She also holds a qualification in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).
Dania Badran
Institution - Imperial College London
Dania is a medical student at Imperial College London. She has worked on projects with top UK clinical research teams, including the UPBEAT and POPS studies. She is a Member of the UK Youth Parliament, she has debated in the House of Commons and is President of the Academic Society at Imperial, and founder and instructor of the university’s first ever Arabic Beginners course.
Raquel Henriques Vaz
Institution - Imperial College London
Raquel completed her PhD in the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London. Before joining ICL she studied Aerospace Engineering at IST in Lisbon. She worked on a European project that aimed to apply microwave radiation on a large-scale to the industry. Her research interests are Fluid Dynamics, buoyancy driven flows and magnetohydrodynamics.
Leanne Durkan
Institution - University College Dublin
Leanne is completing her PhD at University College Dublin in theoretical physics. She also holds a Masters in Applied Mathematics from the University of Cambridge. Leanne has lived in the US, Canada and Vietnam and has completed a number of expeditions in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Norway, North Vietnam and the Himalayas.
Hatwan Galali
Institution - University College London
Hatwan graduated with a MEng Chemical with Biochemical Engineering from UCL. Her final year research project looked at the engineering of an industrial biocatalyst to synthesise a novel pharmaceutical drug. She has been an educator at ICCUK, interviewing and filming refugees in Iraq and Greece for the Children in Crisis documentary to raise funds.
Parvin Sadigova
Institution - King's College London
Parvin is a PhD candidate in Computer Science at King’s College London, specializing in cyber security and human behaviour. As a winner of the ACM Turing Award Scholarship, she received an offer for the project 'Security of Smart Buildings' sponsored by GCHQ. Named one of Azerbaijan’s Young Role Models, she was invited by the Ministry of Education to train specialists in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics.
Dr Chenhao Wu
Institution - University of Sheffield
Chenhao Wu is a PhD student and teaching assistant at the University of Sheffield. She holds degrees in Computer Science, Linguistics and Electronic Engineering, with expertise in machine learning, algorithms and coding. She has designed GCSE lessons on Automatic Speech Recognition for British schools and invented a customer-product-prediction system for her industrial work.
Jenjira Jaimunk
Institution - King's College London
Jenjira is a PhD student in Computer Science at King’s College London. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Software Engineering from Chiang Mai University, where she also lectured before moving to London. She has won multiple awards including the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, and received the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Management.
Lizzie Wadsworth
Institution - University of Edinburgh
Lizzie is a PhD student at the University of Edinburgh, working on the parasites that cause African sleeping sickness. She combines laboratory experiments with bioinformatics (computer programming). Lizzie was awarded an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) in recognition of her teaching.
Sanjana Choudhury
Institution - Harvard University
Sanjana is a researcher in the field of Infectious Diseases and has lectured at Jagannath University, Bangladesh and Harvard Medical School. At Harvard, she worked with WHO on antimicrobial surveillance systems and founded a non-profit charity providing free education to underprivileged children in Dhaka. She holds an MSc degree from London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and a BSc from the University of Dhaka.
Dr Charlotte Johnson
Institution - University of Cambridge
Charlotte is a qualified doctor. She studied for a BA in Natural Sciences and completed her clinical medicine training both at the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine. She has worked in Uganda and Nepal, and supervises undergraduates in physiology at the University of Cambridge, as well as teaching students on the hospital wards.
Sandra Sullivan
Institution - Imperial College London
Sandra is a PhD candidate at Imperial College London researching cancer pathogenesis. She holds a Masters in Molecular and Cellular Biology (with distinction) and achieved the ‘President Prize’ for her BSc, awarded to the best graduating student. Sandra obtained a fellowship with the Higher Education Agency and has worked as a graduate teaching assistant (GTA) at Imperial since 2016
Dr Salah Sharief
Institution - University of Leeds
Salah is completing a PhD in Law at the University of Leeds, researching on drones and the dehumanisation of war. Salah utilised his expertise in writing to found Wordsmiths Editing Ltd., a proofreading company that specialises in editing academic work.
Tom Paine
Institution - University of Oxford
Tom is a PhD student at the Computer Science faculty at Oxford, after having completed an undergraduate Masters in Mathematics (also at Oxford). His current work involves using a categorical approach to understanding the combinatorial games present in finite model theory. He also plays squash for the university team.
Samuel Martin
Institution - University of Cardiff
Samuel Martin obtained a first-class Computer Vision degree from Cardiff University. His final year project specialised in vision and autonomous robotics. This achieved a mark of 97% and was awarded the 2017 European Undergraduate Award for Computer Science. His interests include 3D printing, wearable tech and software development.
Justin Rhodes
Institution - University of Oxford
Justin holds a master’s degree with distinction in Environmental Governance from the University of Freiburg (Germany) and a master’s degree with distinction in Water Science, Policy and Management from the University of Oxford (UK). He is co-founder of two Tech-Startups and an active member of the Google Campus
Miragshin Abutalibov
Institution - University of Oxford
Miragshin completed his MSc at the University of Oxford, majoring in Software and Systems Security with GCHQ pathway. He has more than 5 years of professional experience in the offensive side of cybersecurity and is the founder of a cybersecurity laboratory in Azerbaijan. He works with the Ministry of Education in Azerbaijan to deliver talks and training.
Shabaaz Tariq
Institution - University College London
Shabaaz completed a MSc in Engineering with Finance at UCL. he has a multidisciplinary background that spans diverse interests in current and emerging technology in Financial Engineering. As the recipient of many prizes in Engineering, such as the Crown Cork and Seal Prize for and the Jaguar Land Rover First Prize, he loves sharing his knowledge with like-minded people.
Aaron Wade
Institution - University College London
Aaron is a PhD candidate at University College London. He is passionate about sports and competes in powerlifting at international events. During his time at UCL, he has been President and Captain of the powerlifting club and Chairman of the Chemical Engineering society.
Andrej Vasilj
Institution - University of Cambridge
Andrej is a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge. He researches steam turbine development for General Electric. Andrej finished his bachelor and master’s degrees among the top 1% in his generation and has taken on a broad range of engineering opportunities in multinational corporations such as Airbus GmbH and Shell.
Dr Zeeshaan Arshad
Institution - University of Cambridge
Dr Zeeshaan Arshad is a medical doctor who graduated from the University of Cambridge with distinction. He graduated in pre-clinical medicine top of his class and has been awarded over 20 national and international prizes and scholarships. He was awarded the Wolfson Fellowship by the Royal College of Physicians to undertake research into machine learning and its application in surgery. In addition he has been involved in international research in New York City and at the University of Oxford. His work has led to over a dozen publications in leading journals including Nature.
Amit Anand
Institution - University College London
Amit completed his Master's degree at University College London in Mechanical Engineering. He successfully lead a team to build a highly efficient Hydrogen Fuel powered vehicle to compete in the highly prestigious Shell Eco-Marathon and served as the Mechanical Engineering Senior Transition Mentor
Sandra Adele
Institution - University of Oxford
Sandra holds a degree in Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience, studied for a Master’s in Pharmacology at the University of Oxford and is now completing her PhD in Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Oxford. She has been working on a program funded by Roche Pharmaceuticals in Tanzania and interned with the Desmond Tutu HIV foundation and UNICEF Ghana.
Ryan Alleyne
Institution - Queen Mary University of London
Ryan completed his undergraduate degree in law at Queen Mary University and remained there for his LLM in Tax Law. His research interests include the international taxation of intangible assets, with particular focus on intellectual property and domestic tax rules relating to patent boxes. He founded a freelance digital communications company in 2015.
